If it wasn't for Kirk and Ace Frehley I wouldn't be playing guitar.

First concert...Kiss, I was 9 and it was the greatest thing I ever saw. I mean, Ted Nugent and Skid Row were the opening acts...COME ON!

And Kirk...Metallica owned me until I discovered Megadeth. My first solo I learned was the first few parts of Fade to Black, then after about a month I managed the rest of it. My favorite solo to play, I might add. Kirk can really play, but he needs to leave the Crybaby at home and get his hands in the upper register some. If this new album is Wah Crazy I'm gonna just abandon Metallica.

I love Kirk's playing up to the Black Album. He's never been the same since Bob Rock showed up. Almost everything he did all the way to AJFA is superb. I wish he would get back to doing that. Maybe Metallica playing pretty much their whole Master of Puppets set at all of these festivals is a sign of things to come. Even a lot of the solos he did on Kill em All is good.

And I DON'T CARE WHO'S PLAYING BASS WITH THEM. All three guys have been very capable bass players in thier own right.

That's where I'll have to step in... Robert blows. I never had the honor to see Cliff live, or Jason for that matter, but I caught Metallica after St. Anger in Atlanta. ROB SUCKS LIVE. He does this annoying gay looking crab walk/stomping that is more laughable than it is cool. He fucked up Battery, too. (if you can't fingerpick that fast...) He should focus more on playing the music than looking cool.

As for the Black album, I love it. Metallica didn't change their image. That's metal in it's purest form. As for the whole Nothing Else Matters sellout shit, listen to Fade to Black. Very similar song structures (clean, heavy, solo, clean) and it's a great song. And Unforgiven, well, listen to One. I like all pre-Load Metallica, and I actually enjoyed St. Anger. (if I want solos, I go to Megadeth)

Ever heard any Suicidal Tendencies? That's what i'm familiar with from Rob.

I heard one song from St. Anger, and the rest of it sounded so bad, I forgot about the bass.

Becker's incredible. And yes, that's
present tense. He's still composing, and
I admire the hell outta the guy.
