Default B.A.D (Blown Amp Day)

Pretty sure that I blew my Mesa Boogie Triple Rec up last weekend. Just before sound check I heard power surge through the speakers and the fuse blew. I went through all the recommended troubleshooting that included removing all the tubes and switching over silcone diode rectifier setting and it still blew the fuse. I'm thinking the Power Transformer bit the dust. I was looking around and the tranny alone cost between $250 and $300. I guess I'll have to use my Engl for the next few months until I can can take the amp in to get serviced. Luckily my amp tech is back in business after battle with cancer that put him out of commission for nearly a year.

Does it blow the fuse when you turn it on or when you come off standby?

It blows the fuse immediately after powering on even on standby.

Finally took my amp in to get fixed. Turns out that there were a couple of bad diodes. Ended up finding some tubes that needed replacing as well. It was much cheaper than I anticipated since there was nothing wrong with the tranny. Total with with tubes and tax $147. Can't wait to pick it up.

Nothing wrong with trannys, if that's what you're into.

Good to hear that it wasn't anything serious with the amp.
