Thanks man, It's going to get a Holoflake Finish like my SL-1 pictured in my Avatar. I just have to find the right person to paint it.

Doesn't look like the original finish held up very well...
I love any kind of holo finish - check with Mitch at http://www.axcessories.com/

He did a holo finish on one of my guitars and has done quite a few for others.

Normally I don't like stuff like that,
but the holoflake is interesting.

I like that holo flake, is it an automotive brand ? Doesn't look like those flakes would make it through an airbrush tip. Either way, thats sweet !

Looks like that was a factory job from the mid 90s. (a little more digging at the JCF says 93-94, those two years only)
I agree, that's some big ol' flake!
Looks like a bass boat.

It's a Factory Finish that they offered for a limited run. I bought it new in 2005 from Chuck Levins. I became friends with the salesman after buying 2 other SL-1's that same year. I told him to keep an eye out for something Special and he called me a month later and said this had just come in. He sent
me a picture of the HoloFlake and I bought it over the phone. It's my favorite one. When the lights hit it on a Dark Stage it's unbelievable...

I just checked Createx website, and they've got lots of pearls and metalflakes etc... but nothing that would match up with holoflake. I'm betting it's a custom mix, automotive urethane clear with the flakes and pigment mixed in. And it would definitely take an automotive paint gun to shoot those flakes.

At least you can be sure it's not something someone could easily fake !

I figure Mitch could do it, like Jon was saying.
Nowadays, it shouldn't be hard to replicate. Black base color, shoot the holographic metallic over it, plenty of clear, and you're done.

Quick search pulled this up

Thanks everyone!!! I spoke to the guy that does the Airbrushing on OCC and he said he would paint it no problem. I'm going to take a road trip to Upstate NY in the Fall and meet with him.
