theyre great for recording and bedroom practice. You can usually DI them into a PA for Live use although a Blackstar HT5 guitar amp is pretty loud as it is.

The HT-1R sounds like the bad boy for you. They crank to a reasonable volume but sound great at low levels and have a pretty tiny footprint. I think theyre a little over priced though.
