What kind of forum is
The original concept of this site was very simple. The Internet is full of forums geared toward guitarists. Pick a particular brand or topic, hit up Google, and I guarantee you will find at least 5 places to hang out and chill with like-minded musicians. Don't believe me? Try it for yourself and get back to me ;)

But there's one problem. None of the forums out there are really 'free'... and I don't mean free as in cost. I mean free as in freedom... because at the end of the day that's what it's really about isn't it? You want to get out there, hang with friends, and be yourself. Sure, there are a few that come close, but none will allow you to just do what you do best: be yourself. And that, to us, is what it's all about. That is why exists. This forum is for you. Period. This is one forum that wasn't built with the sole purpose of allowing a select group of guys with pygmy dicks to treat others like shit, helping to boost their otherwise deflated egos which were probably destroyed early on by either mommy, daddy, uncle Jack, or scores of laughing and pointing women. The guys who run this forum have big dicks and have zero need to flaunt them. We're comfortable with ourselves and want everyone else here to be just as comfortable. We designed this forum as a place to call home. Anything less and we've failed all of you by not doing what we set out to do.

Long story short... is a place you can come discuss your musical passion. The reason you were put here on this Earth. The reason you make it through every day of your life. If you're anything like me, music is your life. Women, jobs, cars, and everything in between will come and go. Nothing is forever. Nothing except your passion for playing the guitar. It is the one thing in your life that won't come and go. It is the definition of "constant" for me, and I'm sure it is for you too. What I'm basically trying to say here is that I take this all very seriously. I (and we) run this forum with your passion for music in mind. Like I said, anything less and I've failed you, and I'm no fan of failure.

You are allowed to have opionions. You are allowed to express them. You are encouraged to express them. The only thing I ask of every one of my members here is that they treat others with respect. Treat people the way YOU want to be treated. So far, this forum has done exceptionally well following that very fundamental guideline... one that some forum owners fail to realize and follow. Some egos are more fragile than others I suppose. Who knows. As the late, great Mr. Rogers once said, "Propel, propel, propel your craft softly down liquid solution. Ecstatically, ecstatically, ecstatically, ecstatically, existence is simply illusion.” WTF. Well, I guess that has nothing to do with what I'm saying here, but Mr. Rogers tripping his balls off on LSD seems like an appropriate segue into the following quote from one of our most respected forum members (RockStringBender, or RSB as we call him... and not affectionately mind you. It's only because we are truly that lazy). I am quoting him here because, in my opinion, he’s summed the “mojo” of this place up perfectly.

"Great place to hang, great bunch of folks. No worries that grandma is gonna get pissed because ya drug a little dirt in on yer shoes when ya visit. Here, they hand ya the broom and make ya cleanup yer own mess, or if the floor is already dirty we party 'til the booze is gone.”

If you have any questions, complaints, or just want me to rub some of my endless amounts of charm off on you (illegal in some states. Check with your local laws before inquiring) just send me a message and I’ll do my best to return some love. Otherwise, hang out and enjoy the forum we've built for you... and leave other forums to the diminutive dicks that run them.

Rock on my Shred Brethren! Rock on!

Where did come from?
In the beginning, there was darkness, strife, dirty deals and unreasonableness. Then the Captain said:

And that shit was fucked...

What is rule #1
Rule #1 - BE NICE!

The goal of this forum is to not only be one of the greatest shred guitar communities in the world, but to be a place where hostility is checked at the door. We will absolutely not tolerate anyone bashing other users, their race, religion, political stance, sexuality, or anything else for that matter. We're all here to have a good time so everyone needs to keep that in mind. If you need to be hostile, do it somewhere else where they'll tolerate it. It's not your right to post on this site... it's a privilege... and one that will be taken away the moment you decide to take it for granted.

This forum is unlike many other forums in that we use the BAN option as a last resort, and to date we've banned only a few people. It's a rare occurance here and that's something we're extremely proud of. Help us keep that number low and be kind to your peers. It doesn't take much effort on your part, and the payoff is that you get one of the most refreshing forum experiences in the world... SHREDGUITARS.COM!

What Internet browser do you support? is designed for Mozilla Firefox, and we recommend it over any other browser on the market. If you prefer, Opera is another excellent choice. We strongly discourage use of Microsoft's Internet Explorer due to inherent security risks associated with it, as well as its spyware/virus vulnerabilities. Internet Explorer also lacks support for several current Internet technologies, some of which are used extensively on this site. That being said, we will NOT support any issues our members have with the site while using Internet Explorer. Do not send us support requests if you are using it.

Are there any topics that are forbidden?
Yes. Though we normally have pretty lenient policies on discussion topics, we do have three topics that are absolutely NOT tolerated here:
The reason for this is that these two topics are the #1 reason for fighting on Internet forums around the world. If you have any doubt, do some research and you will find out these topics are also the leading cause of DEATH worldwide... and have been throughout history. The bottom line is that this is a guitar/music forum, so they have no place here anyway. ShredGuitars staff will remove such topics from the forum when they are found, without warning. If you continue to publish such content, you will be banned.

What is the ban-speed record here and who holds it?
That record is held by forum member (and we use tha term very loosely here) "jeessick". He/she broke and set the ban-speed record at 1 hour 39 minutes.

Is Shred Guitars a malware/ad-free site to visit?
Absolutely. We pride ourselves in maintaining a virus/spyware/malware-free website. Do you support dialup connection speeds?
Short Answer: FUCK DIALUP!

Once again, for those who have vision problems:

And one last time for the blind:

Long Answer: If you're on dialup, we have a message for you and it's from 1995: They want their modem back, along with that AOL floppy disk you still haven't returned to them.

Get a cable modem.
Get DSL.
Get satellite.
Steal your neighbors open wireless connection.
Just get SOMETHING other than what you're using now, which is the modern equivalent of two cups and a string (hell, if you HAD a proper connection, we could show you what two girls and one cup is all about). Furthermore, dialup is for girls. Is there anything else we missed that might insult you enough to get off that shit connection of yours? If so, let us know via our "contact us" form. It's right there on our front page, which will take you exactly 35 hours to load. Then it will probably take you another 2 hours to compose the message as you hunt and peck your way across that 18yr old Packard Bell keyboard you're using. By that time your connection will time out and you'll have to dialup again and start all over with the 35 hour wait... oh and don't forget to login. That'll be yet another page to load and another 15 hours of your time... did someone say TIMEOUT AGAIN???

Just kill yourself. Now.

Can I advertise on
Yes. We offer advertising at competitive rates. If you are interested, please contact us for rates.

Does have a Twitter account?
Yes, but don't expect us to post anything worth reading. What did you expect? Insightful, deep, reflective musings? Fuck no. This is SHRED! It's meant to be fun, like anything else. You are more than welcome to follow us on Twitter! We'd love to have you as a follower. The more sheep the better in our opinion :)
