This guitar was a black USA Charvel SoCa this morning, I got it from one of the guys here on this board. I just wasn't too hot on the black color or the pickguard. I found this body on the bay, a USA Charvel San Dimas model 2 and got it today. It was about an hours work to swap everything and I think it sounds way better than the old body. :icon_bigg

Is that a sparkle finish? It looks cool man, the more I see purple/pink guitars the more I'm starting to like them. Those Charvel necks just look comfortable. I've nevereven touched one but judging by the pictures of them they seem to have a nice comfy profile. Cool score man!

It is candy purple which is kind of sparkly. The guy has a candy red body now up, :eusa_naug if he puts up any more in a color I like better I'm going to be mad. :icon_wink
The necks on these Charvels are killer - they go for big bucks on the bay.

So you put the DiMarzios from the SoCal into the Style 2 body? :eusa_thin I thought that was illegal...like tearing the "do not remove this tag" tag off a couch or pillows :eusa_whis Your in a heap-o-trouble now boy! :eusa_shhh

Since I own a Candy Purple Style 2...but with the stock Duncan JB/59 pups in it...I'd love to try a side-by-side comparison :headbangd

 The DiMarzios rock in this body. I have developed a serious liking for the Evo and it seems the Tone Zone works well with it. :eusa_danc
:eusa_thin Could it be a deep dark secret....:icon_eek:

Are you running the EVO in the neck and the TZ in the bridge or vice-versa?

Thanks, I have to take some better pictures...got a better camera now. The TZ is the bridge and the EVO is the neck. I've got another Charvel SoCa in black with purple pickups so I'll get both girls together for a porn shoot. :eusa_danc

I'm planning on putting an EVO in the neck of one of my Jackson's when I get a chance. I've read great things about it so I'm looking forward to checking it out. What are your thoughts on it?

I have a TZ in the neck position of my Washburn and it's actually a pretty damn cool match for the X2N in the bridge. It's huge tonally with a nice crisp high end, kind of has a little more zing than a normal neck pickup. It loves tapping and legato lines as well. I guess Michael Romeo knew what he was doing after all! :icon_lol::notworthy

When I had the Evo in the neck of my So Cal, I loved it's tone when played clean. It has a very smooth mid range with the low and high end cut back slightly to keep it from sounding either too bassy or too shrill. Distorted, that smooth tone carries over and sweep picking has never felt or sounded so natural.

That's about all I did on that So Cal...so I can't tell you about its mid-gain tone or anything like that. But for high gain and sparkling clean, it's a good pickup for the neck position.

Thanks for the reply, that's the kind of response I was hoping for. It sounds like it will do exactly what I want it to do!

I'll more than likely be pairing it up with a DSonic in the bridge, which I've already played on in the past. I'm thinking it's going to make a nice pickup combo for my Jackson DKMGT.
