hey there,

i have a chance to get one of these, and i was just wondering how they are if anyone knows. i know this ones a late 80's reverse headstock, schaller trem, EMGs loaded into it, H-S config, 22 jumbo frets, rosewood neck

i believe these were made in japan...seeing that i know nothing about charvel, are these as good as the other models you see, or are these the lower end of the food chain?

Let's see. We'll try the common sense approach.
Schaller trem, EMGs (real ones, right?) made in the late 80s. :eusa_thin
Just by virtue of the pieces that are listed about the guitar, I would say that you're pretty safe, unless the neck is twisted or warped, or something odd like that.

Go try it out, and see if you like it.:icon_cool
I don't know what would be a good price for one, though, and Q can fill you in on the rest.

almost perfect condition, no neck pocket cracks...

they are real emgs, active

neck is perfect, feels really nice, one of the best ive felt. The trem is good too, no rust...i wish i could date it though, i dont know how to read charvie serials

Good job. That's the main thing, once you put the guitar in your hands, you will know if it's a good axe or not.

You mean 94? Does the neck plate say Fort Worth, Tx? I don't know a bunch about them but I do know I like those Japan made ones!
This thread should be in the import section shouldn't it? :eusa_naug

the neck plate just says

"charvel" (in the guitar shape)

by jackson/charvel

I don't think so, 84 would be a USA and not a few hundred.
My Jackson #RR 0747 was made in 1984, second year of production, in San Dimas, Ca. There was no imports that I know of that early. but anything is possible, I'm no expert.

The Predator was the toothpaste logo version of the Model 3DR. I can't explain the strange neckplate, it should be the Fort Worth cast one...maybe someone did a swap or sumpthin.

3DRs were made late 87 & 88 and the script logos (Preds) came 89-91. Is that a solid color white? The factory only made a Pearl White in the Pred, so beware of a repaint. No matter what you have a smoking:jointsmoke: geetar there for mere pennies!
