I'm thinking about swapping for this, but there are a few things that are making me wonder if it's a copy.

I've never seen a Kahler on a Jackson, and who would paint over the headstock? I also don't recall seeing a lot of H/S/S Jacksons. The soloist/dinky are usually H/H. Plus, the electronics look foreign to me. It almost seems like a BC Rich ST III body.

I say copy. Headstock is wrong, too wide, and a bit stumpy looking. Another thing is that neck is 22 frets, not 24. Most of the time, when Jackson uses the sharksfin inlays, the neck is bound; that one isn't.
The body looks pretty good, but even on my PS-2, the pickup route for the humbucker looked like a humbucker route (a rectangle with a little extra on the side for the pickup feet), not like that one. I've seen plenty of Jacksons with the HSS layout, but the electronics look rather strange to me. The "Kahler" looks like the ones they used on the middle of the line Jacksons & Charvels in the late 80s. The body could be real, but I still think the neck is a copy.

What are you thinking about swapping for it?

BTW Chris, thanks for your tips on modding pedals. Everything worked out fine when I modded the SD-1, even though I almost lifted a trace. :icon_eek:
I still need to tweak out a couple of values on it to get it where I want it.

WARNING that is not a Kahler it is a cheap VERY crappy bridge!
I dont think its a jackson at all, I think its a Series 10 or a DeanZ.
My old Dean Z had that bridge and hdsk, My old series 10 had that hdsk but a different bridge.

edit:Not raggin on them brands... just the bridge, the construction of them from my memory is they were just like the other imports of the late 80's

I was gonna say series 10 as well. Stay very far away from it, unless you're swapping a starcaster for it! :D

hmm well to be quit honest dont trade well ya can if ya want but most "pro" jacksons have a slight contour at the end of the neck for better acess this doesnt plus if its a bolt on neck its a dead give away its a bc rich cause jackson barely ever done an edition with coil taps and if they did itd be on a pro which would have the contour i mentioned , but if i was you do what i did buy a cheap jackson change pickups and the flyod ya only need to change the bridge pick up , teh neck ones taht come as standard are fine youll spend about the same amount of money doing taht guitar up as you would after what i just said:P but hey why listen to a 17 yr old :P:P

I agree with you on this one, that one does look an awful lot like a DeanZ

two big givaways: 1) stumpy headstock that has no logo, 2) nasty gap in front of so-called Kahler. Yeuch!

The stumpy headstocks were used on US Jacksons in the mid '80's... they are generally slightly shorter and wider then the modern jacksons, Jackson also used kahler trems during this time frame. Jackson has had many ssh models over the years and still produces them to this day. the painted over headstock concerns me... but it may be real
