All the flippin' I've been doing lately has been centered around this beast here.

Ok......maybe not everybody will get their drool on over this critter, but I sure as fuck do!!:drool2::drool2: For the Ibby unintiated, the body is a US Custom Graphic. This one is "Music Of The Spheres". The neck is off of another hard to find, and very iconic Ibby......the RG-565. There's another USCG up now. The "Streetwise" model. I have this one. I tried to backdoor it with the intention of using the neck of one of the Streetwise axes to complete this one,and then parting out everything else. The seller didn't want to end it early though.

So now I'm thinking, maybe just get the headstock painted to better match the USCG body,.....maybe even do something about the red fret dots too...or not,and perhaps scallop from the 9th fret up. Either way, I think it's safe to assume I'll have the only one like it.

Uberflipper,
HANG ON TO THAT GEETAR!

If it were me, i'd see if I could find a neck for that one, and see if I could find another RG 565, even if it wasn't in great shape. Bodies are easier to fix and paint than necks. :icon_wink
OR, you could get a custom made body for that neck. :eusa_danc

The Black and White Checkersboard really stands out ,Reminds me of a Masonic print I saw that has pillars, and stairs and I get alittle of this Groove coming off this. There is a company that actually puts LED Lights and Lazers into there guitars, They put Led Lights in the places where the Dots are ,OK I spend too much time on the Internet reading about differant Guitar Technology I should just learn to play.. Guitar looks Great I would do something maybe to break it up. Alittle to Symetrical. Not A Gig just a Untrained Observation. Great Guitar. I do notice a huge trend towards Single Monster HB Pickups in the closest to tremolo as possible, Please let me know what that does for the sound,( Serious I am new to Guitars but starved for imformation. Thanks Steve

I am indeed going to keep this one. I tend to hold onto the weird stuff. Tone, that was my original plan......to make 2 guitars out of this one. I found a sanded down RG-560 body with the middle single coil cavity filled in. I'm gonna try to snag it tonight. I reckon I'll take my time and accumulate the necessary parts, but it ought to keep me occupied for awhile.

Cool graphic, I like it!

Ok help me out here. I had a 565 several years ago, only Ibby I have ever owned and the neck didn't feel any different than any other Ibanez neck that we had at the music store. Were they different and I didn't notice? Just wondering. :eusa_thin

I think the only real difference is that they were a maple board, they had colored inlays and a color matching reverse headstock.

Well the 565 is a Wizard......a wide/thin type thing. All the 500 and 700 series RG's have them. As well as all the Jems and S540's.

Not all Ibanez necks are Wizards though. There's also the WizardII....a bit less wide/thin. Then there are other neck profiles they offer too. Myself...I'm a wide/thin guy,so the only experience with those other Ibby necks outside of a lawsuit era Les Paul and V I had was the neck on an Ibby Ghostrider that I had last year.

I've played the Wizard II, and I couldn't really tell any difference.
If I had both to A & B them, I would probably notice the difference.
I'm not into the wide/thin necks anymore.

Oh, here's a custom body that would look cool with that neck. :icon_wink

I like those graphics on that Ibanez, very nice. It reminds me of the album cover Adrenalize by Def Leppard except for the checkerboard. :icon_lol:

That would look nice....that looks like it's gonna be a nice axe when it's done.

I just snagged this as step one of the 565 project.

OK cool, I just didn't want to find out that it's an ultra rare very sought after neck that I traded away for next to nothing. I never got used to the really wide thin necks and I always was adjusting the truss rod every season to get the action right. My Kramer necks don't have this problem!

Thanks for educating me! :thumbs::thumbs:

I love that body shape! Did you design it?

I love that body shape! Did you design it?

I wish! I found it at theguitarboard.com,
which is Legacy One guitars.
It was a link at the top of the jemsite board.
Go check out some of the other bodies they do!

I might have to experiment with that idea. :eusa_thin

Thanks Erik......it's gonna be a long slow process. I gotta find someone to paint it for one thing. I'm seriously thinking of doing it in some kind of neon color.....leaning towards Loch Ness green.

One question I have about that though. Do you guys think it would be too problematic replacing the red fretdots with LNG ones?

toneseeker
09-29-2008, 06:16 AM
It shouldn't be hard to replace them,
but, it may be hard to find the LNG dots.
