Well, I just got this one in today.......a 92' S540 Frank Gambale model. Gambales in general are pretty scarce, but the blue ones are as rare as chicken lips!! This one needs a string change and fret polish, as well as tightening of the volume and tone pots......truss and spring cavity covers too, but aside from that it's in 8.5 out of 10 condition.......easily!!

Nice one, bro. How come they're always missing the TR covers? I can understand the spring cavity lids, but come on... Why do people lose these things?

Thanks Marc. The dude who had it sold a DY 550 out from under me last week, so I was anxious to get this one in the boat. I had the wife wake me up early. The guy had a gig to go to, but waited for me. I hd to drive like a maniac into Boston to get it.

On top of that, all the college kids were moving in to their apartments today....it was fucking insane.......but worth it.

Worthy grail guitar indeed, but no.......not one of those. I've had a few, and have had to move one, and flipped the other. Next one I get will stay. I don't think MG will mind if I say what the deal is, I got his Zion Radicaster I've been lusting after, and a VERY early first year Ibby Radius.

I miss the Zion I had tremendously, so that one will stay here with me. The Radius however will be a flipper

oh man, i remember stumbling across the zion site when i was looking for my first real shred guitar...those things are easily one of the most beautiful guitars ive ever seen....awesome trade, and the radius will be nice because it is a piece of history...thats why i like older guitars so much, feels nice to have one.

I've never even heard of a blue Gambale.

I didn't know they were doing the AANJ back in 92.
I knew they were in 94, but I thought it was pretty new back then. :eusa_thin

Yeah, the blue ones are definitely the rarest of the Gambale series.

The AANJ was one of the key differences between the FGMs and the rest of the Sabre series back then. To the best of my knowledge these and the Reb Beach models were the first Ibbys that featured the AANJ.

 Of course!
Now, I remember the RBMs using the AANJ.

dang that is nice Roger :thumbs: :drool2:
I played one of them back in the 90's whenI bought my 450 Dx
The thin body kinda messed with me some. Didnt the recess everything on them including the pup rings?

Edit After my SA I love them thin bodies!

I'm not too sure about those thin bodies. I think i'd rather have a boat anchor and one of those wafer thin things; I'm not gigging. :icon_bigg
I played one of the S series before, and the thin body messed with me too. I don't know if I could get used to that.
As a matter of fact, my strat feels thin to me, compared to my les paul. :icon_lol:

Brian just shot a pic of the Zion before he boxed it up.......he's shipping today. Here it is.

I liked the Gambale , but this particular Zion has been on my get list for awhile. This and the Radius that's coming make up for losing the Gambale I think. Makes sense for Brian too. I don't care how big of an Ibby collector someone might be. There aren't alot of them who have a FGM100 in blue.

How do those Gambales play?
Pretty much like any other S series?
