I sniped it.

Yesterday, when it got here it was nice and sunny out. I went to take
some pics, but the camera batteries were dead. Now today when they're
recharged the fucking sun's nowhere to be found. This Desert Yellow
color really jumps out under sunlight. I'll take some more when it's nicer
out.

This one has a few battle scars, but for the price I got it for,I'm pretty
happy with it. I'm gonna restring it and tweak a little bit when I'm off
this weekend. I plugged it in yesterday, and holy shit...the fucking thing
roars!!

Nice score bro!

I was looking at the 550 DY on Ibby's website last night. Is it still on the menu, or are they still sold out from the limited edition run?

You'll have to look used for one of the re-issues, Joel. They're sold-out EVERYWHERE.

Nice score, man! I love the look of that guitar! :drool2::drool2::drool2:

That should tell Ibanez something.
Now, if they'll listen, well that remains to be seen.

If you can find a maple board Ibby,
it wouldn't be hard to throw together a mutt,
or a Jem conversion. :eusa_thin

Looks like the former owner
didn't go to Wankerton very often.
(You can ask what I mean, I don't expect you to know)

As you can see,the color really comes alive in the sunlight. Thanks for the compliments
on this one too guys. As for the 550 reissues,IMO they're not the same what with them
moving away from the old style square neck joint and going with the AANJ. Also the
reissues have the bubinga(?) stripe in the back of the neck.

About Ibanez and the direction they're going in now....I have an easy fix for them.
All they gotta do is grab a 1991 Ibby catalog, and reissue everything they see in the
fucking thing.

Once again, great pics Uber. The 20th anni actually has the square neck joint, but you're right about the neck stripe. Since I sold mine, I got rid of some of the close-up pics of it too. Anyway, specs are very close to the original, but I'd still put my .02 the '87's were better guitars.

Great lookin' guitar, bro. I'm scared to own a guitar that bright! :icon_cool

I like the AANJ.
I wonder if it takes anything away from the sound of the guitar.
Probably not much.

Thanks dudes. I just restrung it....much needed, the guy before me had an unbelievably
heavy gauge set on there.....the G was a wound string!! Though I usually use 10s I put
9s on this one. I swear there's nothing like an old school 550 when it comes to playing
shreddy stuff. Yup,for 350 clams,it'd be hard to beat this one.

Well, while I'm not sure if it's necessarily the square vs AANJ neck joint issue
or something else, but there definitely is a noticable difference between the
older RGs and the newer AANJs. The classic ones kick the shit outta the new
ones.

AOG,I like the gaudy Ibby colors, but then again I'm kind of a psycho at times.

Paul Gilbert said it does and that the old square heel had better tone. I concur.

I've heard that over and over,
that the old ones kick the crap out of the new ones.

I don't have a problem with the old square neck heel.
For anyone that does, go play a Les Paul for six months.
Your opinion will change. :eusa_whis

I'm trying to see for myself. One of my next targets is one of the really
high end Jap Les Pauls. I'm thinking a Burny,Greco,or old Yamaha Studio
Lord.
