have any of you guys had any experience with these guitars, I'm thinking about picking one up if nothing else presents itself (unless an original Vandenberg comes up too!),
they certainly look nice and i was wondering if they play the part

I have not played one of the new ones,
but the originals rip! I did pick one up in
a store not too long after they reintroduced
the V-shape (I didn't get a chance to play it)
but it was unusually light, probably one of the
lightest guitars i'd ever had in my hand.
FREAKISHLY light. Not something that
really excited me.
I don't remember anything about the pickups
that were in them, but the rest of the guitar
was top notch. Could probably snag one
fairly cheep on ebay.

If it's anything like the old Vandenbergs, it will defintiely be a worthy axe. I'm diggin' the binding on the new ones, and the new trans finsihes. Mine accepted a JB and thickened the tone up well. It has a neck that nothing, not even a wizard is thinner than, and is indeed very light and easy on the shoulder. I took me a bit to get used to the scale, but that gets easy with about a week of playing. Get one and report back!

I played a reissue and It was awesome, but I hear they are a totally different beast from an original

If it's made in the USA, it's probably good. The only USA made Peavey axes I've played though are the Wolfgangs. They fucking rock, and they're definitely quality instruments that will take a beating.
Act of God

Does anyone know if they made the V-type or the real Vandenbergs (sp?) in LEFTY?
